According to the new research women are 20 per cent more prone to develop insomnia than men. This may be caused by snoring of the partner or stress and anxiety that is connected to our fast living life.
NSF - National Sleep Foundation conducted a research among 2000 women. Within the year of investigation women of age 18 to 64 NSF has revealed that two-thirds of the examined women suffered at least once a week from severe sleep difficulties. Regular sleep disturbances have been reported by 70 per cent of the examined women. Whether only 52 per cent of men reported they had sleeping disturbances once a week.
The study reflects research in a new book by the founder of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Dr Meir Kryger, author of Can't Sleep, Can't Stay Awake: A Woman's Guide To Sleep Disorders. 'Unlike men, women have sleep problems related to hormonal and bodily changes from menstruation, pregnancy and menopause,' he said.
Dr Kryger adds also that most of the sleep disorders among women are simply misdiagnosed by the doctors who are lack of knowledge in this field. It would mean that such undiagnosed sleep disorder is putting females at risk when they contribute this state to obesity as well as diabetes. Most likely women are not having proper sleep due to demands of todays world as well as the role that woman has in the society.
Guardian article points out the very important factors that I certainly agree with. Women because of their role in society and family of modern world suffer from sleeping difficulties mainly because of stress and anxiety.
I have been struggling to sleep better for about 3 years and absolutely nothing has helped me, till the day I met great composer and attended his workshop. He explained every detail of his music background and told as all the reasons why we cannot sleep better. It was very educative workshop and from that day I applied all his rules. I started to exercise a lot, I didn't realize that after one year I will be a one big addict who cannot live without exercising. I cannot imagine my day without at least 30 min running or doing other activities.
The other thing I started to apply was meditation. Five minutes a day due to busy routine was fairly enough for me. Meanwhile I was also playing meditation music called alphamusic in the background and this music put my brain into relaxed alpha state. I was doing the same things each day and night - meditation and exercises were a must for me along with alpha music. My life has changed ever since. My insomnia started disappeared, when I woke up which barely happened, I got slept in just few minutes. At the moment I am leading a normal life with less stress and anxiety as well as I am not letting anything stopped this. That day when I attended that workshop was the new beginning for me and all my relatives.
